A Dupe for Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner?

I have been using liquid liner for most of my adult life and over the years I have gotten pretty good at it. Having never used a gel liner when I spotted Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner Pen on one of my regular trips to Boots I popped it in the basket.

I was curious about the pen/gel hybrid but when I first used it was a bit of a disaster and I could not have made more of a mess! I got it everywhere and went straight back to liquid liner which I am much more comfortable with. I decided to give it another go when all the hoo-hah around the Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner came out. On my second go and with a little patience it's actually not a bad product, it can be blended and buffed out to give a lovely smoky eye which you cannot do with liquid, it lasts forever, is super black and you can get a beautiful flick with a steady hand...it's worth mentioning that this is not a liner to learn with.

I actually think the Maybelline version came out before the Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner, they look incredibly similar and although I absolutely refuse to spend the £18.50 (madness for an eyeliner but I am super tight!) on the Benefit version I had a little play last time I was at a Benefit counter. They both have the flexible rubberised nib with a stopper (I threw mine away but in hindsight I would have kept it) both use a click system to dispense the product and have a liquid gel consistency. The Benefit liner has had mixed reviews and I would definitely rather gamble my money on the Maybelline version at £8.99 than fork out almost £10 for the Benefit on.
